ADI is open to receiving applications for investment from private sector funds or financial institutions that fit the below ADI investment criteria. Interested parties should send their investment proposal to ADI@saronafund.com. ADI reserves the right to reject applications.
ADI Investment Criteria:
ADI Invests in SME Funds with a substantial presence in our target countries.
An SME Fund is a financial intermediary that is focused on providing early-stage capital or growth capital to SMEs. Where, an SMEs is a small to medium enterprise that has 100 employees or fewer (or fewer than 250 employees in labour-intensive sectors) that is seeking up to USD 10 million as an initial investment.
Target Countries include:
- Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and Myanmar in Southeast Asia;
- Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal in South Asia; and
- Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu in the Pacific.
ADI invests in SME Funds that are committed to gender equity and climate action.
ADI invests in SME Funds that target SMEs seeking to improve the lives of communities and/or positively contribute towards addressing climate change. SME Funds must also target (or be prepared to target) gender equity and have in place (or be able to establish) sufficient processes and procedures to measure and manage the development impact of their investments. SME Funds must also be willing to adopt the IFC Exclusion List for their investment activities.
ADI invests in SME Funds that can demonstrate a clear path to financial sustainability.
SME Funds must be able demonstrate a pathway to financial stability in their business plan. Fund managers must have relevant experience in investment management in the target countries, impact investing and/or gender lens investment. This experience can be either at a fund level or with the individuals running the fund; first-time funds may apply.
ADI can:
- Provide you flexible capital, including blended finance solutions
- Provide advice to bolster your capital raising capability
- Support your firm and the SMEs you invest in with business oriented technical assistance and capacity building solutions
- Provide advice to build your impact, track record and profile
Application Process and Notification:
The ADI Consortium is committed to transparent and timely communication with all applicants. We commit to sending you a confirmation email within 5 business days of submitting your application. ADI reviews applications on a rolling basis each quarter. You will be notified within three months if your application will be considered further or does not fit the mandate. Several steps are required within the due diligence process, which may take from four months up to a year to complete. Applicants seeking immediate financing should be aware of these timelines before applying.
